How and Where to Place (As Per Vastu)
- Place facing outward at your main entrance.

-
East or North wall placement gives the best results.
- Light a diya or incense nearby every morning (optional but recommended).
Best Day to Place
For maximum blessings, place your Kirtimukha on a Monday — the sacred day of Lord Shiva. Saturday is also highly auspicious for protection and positivity. Place it in the morning after a bath, with a calm mindset and a fragrant incense offering.
The Mythology Behind Kirtimukha
According to the Skanda Purana, Kirtimukha was born from the fiery energy of Lord Shiva's third eye to destroy a demon (Rahu) who had disrespected Goddess Parvati. The fierce being was immensely powerful — but when Rahu surrendered in fear, Lord Shiva stopped the attack.
Yet the being's hunger was uncontrollable. In complete devotion, it obeyed Shiva's command and consumed its own body — until only its radiant face remained. Moved by its absolute loyalty, Lord Shiva named it Kirtimukha — Face of Glory — and blessed it as the eternal guardian of sacred spaces, entrances, and temples against all negativity and evil.
